Early Womanhood

As a young woman coming into adulthood- you may be moving out on your own for the first time. Or going away for schooling. Maybe you’re just becoming more attuned with your body and your health.

I know when I was living through that time in my life- I had no clue about food, health, or even my body. I knew what tasted good and what I liked to eat, and that was it. I “knew” the things I enjoyed eating weren’t “healthy” by society’s standards. I knew hormones were viewed negatively by society as well as most woman-centric things. I knew there were approximately 1092831 diet fads that promised to make my body look how society wanted it to look. Each one saying they were the one correct way and that all of the others weren’t real and didn’t work:
“Cut carbs! Bread is evil! Your body doesn’t need it.”
“Bread is great it’s the sugars you have to watch out for! Don’t you dare eat that apple- do you have any idea how much SUGAR is in that apple?!”
“Eat all the bread and fruit you want- it’s red meat that is the real culprit of all health issues!”

It was all too much, too confusing, so I just shut everything out and decided to eat what made me happy. And I was happy. To this day I still do not believe in restrictive eating and dieting (unless needed for medical or ethical reasons), as all food is good food and has a place in our bodies and our life.
BUT, it took me a long time to realize that although I felt happy eating whatever I wanted, my BODY didn’t feel happy. And I’m not talking about how it looked- how you look is not a reflection of your health. I’m talking:

  • Headaches

  • Fatigue

  • Mood swings

  • Severe PMS symptoms and irregular cycles

  • Bloating and gas

  • Constipation or diarrhea

  • Muscle stiffness

  • Upset stomachs

By allowing media and societal pressures completely overwhelm me, I had been putting my body into a state of shock where multiple body systems were under-functioning and completely stressed.

I can help you cut through all of the BS you see constantly thrown at you from anywhere you look, and help you understand your body. Understand how hormones work in your body and how to nourish your body with all of the food you are eating now (plus maybe a few new ones added in there!) I also understand that at this period in your life, you may not have all of the money (read: school, entry-level job positions, student debts, all the bills) to throw into your health. That is why I have some more budget-friendly options that may allow you to still gain some knowledge as to how to love and nourish your body better at this stage in your life.
Check out my Coffee Chat service which allows you to bring some pointed questions to the table that you want clarification on or real evidence-based information about, or my Build Your Own package that can allow you to space out appointments to spread the cost over some time.

You can also look at my shop (which is coming soon!) for nourishing budget-friendly meal plans.
